Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Statement

At Hip Hop Pop Ltd and Hip Hop Pop Schools Clubs Ltd, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to participate, belong, and thrive—regardless of their background, identity, or ability. We are committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity, and fostering genuine inclusion across all areas of our dance provision, with a particular focus on our school-based street dance clubs.

Our Approach to Inclusion

Inclusion is not a box-ticking exercise for us—it is a daily practice. We actively welcome children from all walks of life and ensure our dance sessions are accessible, adaptable, and child-centred. This includes, but is not limited to, children who:

  • Have special educational needs or disabilities (SEND)

  • Speak English as an additional language (EAL)

  • Are neurodivergent or require support with social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) needs

  • Come from different ethnic, cultural, religious, or socioeconomic backgrounds

  • Identify as LGBTQ+ or are exploring their identity

Our lesson plans are flexible enough to respond to the individual needs of participants. We work in partnership with schools, parents, and guardians to ensure that where additional support is required, it is identified early and delivered with care and sensitivity.

Equality in Practice

We are committed to providing equal access and opportunities for all children to enjoy and succeed in our dance clubs. This means:

  • Designing activities that allow for varying ability levels

  • Encouraging mutual respect and celebration of differences

  • Monitoring participation and feedback to ensure no group is left behind

We do not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, or exclusion—whether overt or subtle—and are proactive in challenging behaviours or attitudes that undermine our inclusive ethos.

Our Diverse Community

Street dance itself is rooted in diversity, drawing from a rich blend of cultures and histories. We honour that heritage by fostering an environment where children can bring their full selves to the space—feeling seen, safe, and supported. Our instructors serve as positive role models who reflect and respect the diversity of the communities we work in.

Safeguarding and Inclusive Practice

As part of our commitment to child welfare, all our instructors are:

  • Enhanced DBS checked

  • Independently referenced and confirmed fit to work with children

  • Compliant with our safeguarding and child protection policies

  • Participating in additional training where needed.

At Hip Hop Pop, we don’t just teach dance—we create space for every child to be confident, creative, and completely themselves.
