At Hip Hop Pop, weāre all about celebrating the joy of movement, music, and creative expressionāand this month, we took it to a new level. Director Jen worked with a dedicated group of 20 students over the course of three energizing, five-hour Saturday sessions. Together, they explored a variety of dance styles, created innovative choreography, and made memories that will last a lifetime. Whether it was hip-hop, house, locking, or something completely new, these sessions were all about the love of dance and the freedom that comes with expressing yourself through movement.
A Space for Creativity
Each Saturday was a whirlwind of creativity as Jen guided the groups through different dance styles and techniques. The goal? To create fun, fresh, and innovative routines that we could capture.
From high-intensity house routines to smooth and soulful grooves, each student brought their own unique flair to the table. The process wasnāt just about nailing choreography; it was about learning how to play with music, lighting, camera angles, shapes, and formations to ignite the dances.
A Diverse Soundtrack
One of the most exciting aspects of these creative Saturdays was the variety of music that inspired the choreography. The dancers moved to a wide range of songs, from throwback classics like Will 2KĀ and AM 2 PMĀ and soulful tunes like Down The RoadĀ and new bangers such as Daniel Is a River. Each piece was handpicked to match the energy and style of the choreography, giving each routine a fresh vibe and helping dancers explore different emotional and physical expressions through the music.
And letās not forget these bangers! Pushin' the Limit, Fallout, and Bongo SongĀ were just some of the tracks that had the students feeling the beat and bringing their best to the moves. The diversity of the playlist helped the dancers unlock different styles and techniques, expanding their movement vocabulary and giving them a chance to shine in new ways.
Behind the Scenes: Lighting, Angles, and More
But the creative process didnāt stop at movement. Throughout the sessions, Jen and the dancers played with lighting, camera angles, and formations to capture each piece in a visually pleasing way. It wasnāt just about dancing in the momentāit was about creating art that could be shared and enjoyed by others.

The dancers had a blast experimenting with moves and formations and working on how theyād interact with the camera. Each piece felt more like a performance than a simple routine.
The Results: Creative Videos You Canāt Miss
All of the hard work, creativity, and fun culminated in a series of dance pieces that many are now available for you to see on Hip Hop Popās Instagram @hiphoppopdance and YouTube channel @hiphoppop. Each video showcases the diverse styles, energy, and personality of the students as they perform to songs that inspire them.

Most username tools generate names that sound generic, but this name generatorĀ seems to mix words more naturally. Some of the results are actually memorable.
I was bored one evening and ended up on LoveMoney somehow. Started one of the tycoon-style games thinking I'd play for ten minutes, but I got way too invested in growing my little virtual empire. Now it's kind of my guilty pleasure after work.
