Congratulations Mikaela – Jack Petchey Leader Award Winner 2025!

We are thrilled to announce that Mikaela has been selected as this year’s Jack Petchey Foundation Leader Award winner at Hip Hop Pop!

The Jack Petchey Foundation Leader Awards recognise adults who go above and beyond in their commitment to supporting young people through schools and youth organisations. We are so proud that our very own Mikaela has been honoured with this prestigious award—and it couldn’t be more deserved!

Mikaela’s journey with Hip Hop Pop spans over 20 years, and for the past decade, she’s brought her talents to the forefront as a passionate teacher. She has not only inspired countless students with her creativity, energy, and dedication, but she’s also become a true role model to everyone around her.

From leading classes with warmth and professionalism to continually innovating her lessons to support every single student, Mikaela brings more than just dance to the studio—she brings heart. Her students adore her, her colleagues trust her, and her volunteers thrive under her guidance. She is a natural leader whose commitment goes beyond the dance floor.

Mikaela also plays a key role behind the scenes. She volunteers her time selflessly, anticipates what’s needed before being asked, and always shows up with a positive spirit and a drive to help. Her reliability and passion are second to none, and she embodies everything that Hip Hop Pop stands for.

Thanks to Mikaela’s award, Hip Hop Pop will also be eligible to apply for funding towards a new project this year, and we’re excited to have Mikaela involved in choosing what that project will be.

The next Jack Petchey Awards Ceremony is scheduled for 18th June 2025 at The Harlow Playhouse, and we hope Mikaela will be on stage to accept her medallion and certificate in front of a live audience!
